Please note: the swimming pool and gym are currently closed for renovation until further notice. We apologise for any inconvenience this may cause.

Please note that the leisure club is open from 07:00-22:00 (Monday to Friday with last entry 21.00), and 08:00-20:00 (Saturday and Sunday with last entry 19.00). Children are not permitted in the pool before 09:00, after 18:00 and between 11:00-13:00.

We will be going back. :-)

Lovely place, still getting onto its feet so a little rusty around the edges.

Our bathroom light flickered and no hot water in the shower, but a simple fix and then no problems at all.

Unsere Zimmer lagen im Westflügel, Zugang vom Haupthaus nur über den Außenbereich möglich. Sehr gute Betten. Saubere Zimmer. Supergroße Außenanlage von mehreren ha. Wir hatten Zimmer ohne Frühstück. Freundliches Personal.

Ein Kleiderschrank oder Kasten wäre im Zimmer ideal gewesen. Mit den öffentlichen Verkehrsmittel ist das Birch Selsdon nicht erreichbar.

What was the highlight of Birch Selsdon

Beautiful grounds and rooms, but avoid event days or weekends.

Beautiful rooms - definitely go for a large room or above. After reading some of the other reviews, I can see why the small rooms would be disappointing in the minimalist style. The bed was huge and comfortable and we loved the radio and couches. The grounds are gorgeous and the setting is gorgeous - if you get a lucky sunny day, the terrace is beautiful to have a drink or coffee on.

It was unfortunate for us that the hotel was absolutely full of children doing circles round the main restaurant. It seemed a lot of couples and older groups were hiding away from them in the back of the restaurant. We also happened to go away on the weekend of Halloween (not planned) so there was music shaking the hotel room until 1am. Breakfast was a bit disappointing as it was not a la carte and it didn't have basics such as butter/honey or a coffee machine.

Amazing building and grounds . stylish public spaces

Food not up to it and service not good . Hotel rooms not luxurious - not well finished and lack attn to detail like only having one coffee sachet although the room was for two people

Comfy but adds up.

Beds and bedrooms were lovely

To use the pool you had to go all the way back to reception to get towels - even though there is a pool house, just didn’t seem to be staffed. Quite an annoying oversight when you have 3 kids all dressed in swim stuff.

Interesting

Quirky place with lovely grounds and great food, especially in the Elodie restaurant. Nice bars and interesting, eclectic decor. Stunning terrace bar with wide reaching views. Lovely staff

A bit odd in the sense that the rewilding of a golf course essentially means it's been left to become overgrown - it's lost some of its beauty as a result. The garishly painted kids playhouse stuck right in front of the stunning terrace spoilt it for me; excellent that it caters for kids but needs way more thought going into it; there's 'hipster' and there's getting it wrong in my opinion. The corridors leading to the rooms feel like a prison or boarding school, with the numbering on the doors evoking prison cells, not a posh hotel room. Definitely understaffed (but realise that's an issue everywhere in hospitality)

Nice grounds

Awful room, smelt odd, very hot, no aircon, not even tea and coffee making facilities. Corridors dingey and in places uncarpeted! Painted a dull yellow, reminiscent of The Shining. Staff fine.

No tvs, phones or room service in any of the rooms…this was not made clear on the booking.com listing. Restaurant portions not good value for money and waiting staff seemed very inexperienced.

Me sorprendió que no había televisión,aunque en mi caso no era problema. La habitación que nos tocó era un poco lejana en laberinto y estrecho.
